In a 2015 survey undertaken by Independent Schools Queensland, parents stated that a school ‘which prepared their child to fulfil their potential in later life’ was the most important factor when deciding on a school.  This is an interesting finding as ‘preparing for later life’ involves so much more than the 3Rs.

At Mueller, we are excited by the opportunities our students have to take part in extracurricular camping and mission opportunities.  These trips not only apply the knowledge learnt at school, but also have a positive impact on student to student and student to teacher relationships.

At school, students need and want to know other people.  They seek relationships with their peers and teachers.  However, it is often the case that our knowledge of each other is imperfect and incomplete.  These gaps create misunderstandings and missed opportunities for students to create meaningful relationships.

The classrooms and playground are not the only places where strong relationships are formed.  Camps, excursions and mission trips provide students and teachers with a varied source of information about each other, and the opportunity to broaden our understanding. When the activities we are involved in are authentic and challenging, we come to a new understanding of each other’s character strengths.

We desire that our students have positive relationships, because our God is a relational God.  We want our students to fulfil their potential in later life through the development of positive relationships.  It is, however, our greater desire that the entire Mueller community see the God of the Bible as a relational, caring God who entered this world to seek a relationship with us.
