The Mueller Esports club kicked-off this week, playing their first series of matches in the Queensland League of Legends Championship last night. The tournament games are organised and matched by the University of Queesland. League of Legends is a fantasy Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA); also called action real-time strategy (ARTS), with teams of five players whose mission is to build their team up to a strategic advantage such that they can overpower the opposing team and destroy their base. League of Legends is one of the largest Esports currently in the world today!

Mueller entered the tournament a little late, starting out at Week four of ten, of the tournament schedule. Five Mueller teams versed teams from Northside Christian College, Ormiston College, Chancellor State College and Everton Park State School. Mueller’s ‘Radio Gaga’ and ‘Convicts’ were given a free win as Everton Park’s ‘Pineapple Fanta’ and Chancellor’s ‘Royals’ forfeited this week, giving us a welcome advantage at this stage of the tournament. ‘Cheez Bois’ and ‘Merry Men’ copped it on the chin this week, but they showed humility in their defeat. The big win of the night goes to ‘Mueller One Tricks’, with Arnav Bhandare, Leroy Christian, Isaac Hancock, Moses Cabading and Ben Chambers defeating Chancellor ‘Legends’ 13 to 2, with the opposing team bowing out early. The ‘Mueller One Tricks’ match was recorded and will hopefully be available for download, so watch this space!

There are ten weeks of round robin matches before finals. Overall, Mueller’s debut to Esports has been incredibly positive, and the teams are super excited to keep training and improve their skills. Bring on week five of the tournament!
