You Belong week is just around the corner and the response to fundraising for the Leukaemia Foundation and Bushfire Relief has been outstanding. The Mueller community has, so far, raised over $27000 of their $30000 target. A huge thank you to everyone who has responded to the call for support through sponsorship – it just goes to show that ‘many hands make light work’. There will be several opportunities for students to continue their fundraising efforts throughout next week so keep an eye on Facebook for daily updates.

Next week, Year 10 student Shania Chidzikwe will shed her long locks as part of the World’s Greatest Shave. She shares why this cause is so close to her heart…

I decided to do the World’s Greatest Shave due to the way that cancer has affected my life and all others who have had to tolerate the struggles of cancers like leukaemia. My cousin, who I was very close to, was diagnosed with cancer in mid-2018 and, unfortunately, left this world in 2019.

I greatly appreciate “The World’s Greatest Shave” and every organisation that was with my cousin every step of the way. I admire all organisations that help people with these issues to the point where words cannot express my admiration. These organisations extended the lifespan of my cousin and I am forever grateful for the memories that I am able to cherish due to this. This is a perfect example of what a loving and firm community can do for someone in need; this community was, of course, the Mueller College community.

And so I decided to give back to this community by shaving my head through “The World’s Greatest Shave” even though the help I’m giving is only a fraction of what this community has done for me.
