Excitement is building around the school with You Belong week only two weeks away. This year our students set a goal of raising $30,000 for the Leukaemia Foundation through various fundraising efforts happening over the week’s events. In a phenomenal effort, they have already reached over $20,000! Most of that has come about from pledges supporting our students and teachers who are taking the plunge this year by shaving or colouring their hair for World’s Greatest Shave. What a testament to the entire Mueller community.

Tom McManus is just one of students who are participating this year and he shared with us about why he is passionate about the cause…

“Hi I’m Tom and I’m twelve years old! And on the 20th of March this year, I’m shaving all of my hair for The World’s Greatest Shave. I have a really personal reason for doing this. I’m doing this in memory of my amazing and caring Uncle Greg. For a period of time, he had leukaemia, blood cancer. He really inspired me because he was a big supporter of this great foundation that’s trying to beat this cancer. I remember him raising loads of money and him shaving his head to beat the disease, which I thought was pretty cool. I thought since I’m in Year 7, I would do it too. My family and friends thought it was a great idea and they really supported the ideaSo I signed up and set a goal of $350 and overnight I raised over $500! Then the day after, I set my goal to $1200 and I’m only $120 short of reaching that goal as well! I think this is an amazing idea and everyone should give it a try! You can cut 20 centimetres off your hair, shave all of your hair or colour your hair! It’s a great idea! Thank you so much everyone for your support!”

So far over 80 participants have put their hand up to take part and they would love your support to reach their target. Click below to be part of the fight against leukaemia.
