You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you. John 15:16

You Belong!

“I choose you.” This is the foundation of true, lasting relationships. It is the foundation for God’s relationship with you. As Jesus declared to His disciples, “You did not choose Me, but I chose you…” 1 Jesus chose you in the most difficult of circumstances. He chose you while you were in sin, while you were His enemy. His side of the relationship with you does not depend upon your choice, but entirely upon His choice. The question is whether or not you will learn to build your relationships with Him and others upon the foundation of your choice.”

The first 6 weeks of this term has been empowering and encouraging as over and over again staff and students have demonstrated this ‘choice’ to love, learn, lead and teach. In the Primary School we have been exploring themes such as Identity, the Trinity and Acceptance in KCP, Assemblies and Chapels. We have explored how amazing and unique we are in God’s eyes and how we need to view others the same way. We have looked at how that with this knowledge, how do we then honour God and others in a powerful way that brings life, empowers potential and positive change. The notion that we are family has also given us the ideas that we all play a part in making a thriving learning environment.

God loves us and relentlessly pursues us, so we might be saved, connected with Him, restored, renewed, learn and grow. Next week we celebrate our community and culture with our ‘You Belong Week’. This week is both celebratory as it is aspirational. We come together to give thanks to a community that ‘chooses each other’ to create a positive learning environment. Yet being humans, where mistakes are and will be made, it is a reminder to continue to ‘choose each other’ and aspire to continually do so.

We pray that we are all united in being thankful and also committed to strengthening our community so that everyone can genuinely feel like ‘they belong’. Enjoy the next week of fun, learning choosing each other and plenty of ORANGE!
