Mrs Kotze’s Year 5 class had the opportunity to broaden their horizons by visiting the Secondary AeroSpace department last week. Mr Banks gave them a tour of the space and explained the subjects and opportunities that will be available to them in the coming years as they journey into high school.

Students were introduced to flight simulators, rockets and drones in the classroom and then had a flying demonstration outside with a fixed-wing aircraft, a drone and they even fired two static rockets. Mr Banks showed them the jet turbine engine, explaining plane controls and the in’s and out’s of how they work.

Year 5 will no doubt be inspired for their ‘Space in Science’ unit next term.
