In this week’s ‘vintage edition’, rather than talk to a new staff member we tracked down one of our longest-serving teachers, Mr Keith Dean, to find out a little about his time at Mueller.

How many years have you been teaching at Mueller?

Coming up to 27 years at the end of this year.

What has kept you here for so long?

I find the kids are great to get along with on the whole and so are great to teach. I love the atmosphere of the place which I think is as a result of our Christian ethos. I think you can feel God here and see Him at work. I also love the staff. It’s great to work with such a dedicated friendly bunch of people.

Tell us one of the biggest changes you’ve seen in the school from when you started to now.

The biggest physical change is the number and size of buildings. When I first got here, only half of D Block was there and the Bus Shed/Industrial Technology (E Block) workshop was the only building beyond D Block. Since then, both the student numbers and the number of buildings has exploded.

Any highlights from over the years?

I think one of the biggest highlights was last year when we moved into our new workshop complex at the other end of the lake. I love the outlook with the lake, trees and birds with the occasional koala. I love Gods creation that we can see from our staffroom.
