“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. John 15: 5

As a parent, the decisions I make for my children are with the goal of always seeing them reach their potential, their God-given potential. As you, the decision around what school to enrol in, is an extremely important one. At Mueller we are experiencing a season of growth and success and there are reasons for this. For example, why did you enrol here? Was it the reputation, the staff, the importance of good peers, community, opportunities available, the facilities, Christian education, good values, whatever the reason, it is valid for you and it is part of the ‘fruit’.

As a Christian community, the Bible verse above, becomes a very real reason for our current season. Our College was founded by faithful people who loved God, loved others and sacrificed greatly. This ‘love for God’ was from a community that saw themselves as branches that were embedded in the vine, that vine being Jesus Christ. This verse and the history of Mueller also reminds us that we cannot live the kind of fruit-bearing life that God wants us to live unless we are closely connected to Jesus.  Yes, we must also humble ourselves before God, submit to and follow His ways, and believe that what the Bible says is truth.

This is still the case today. Much of the ‘fruit’ (the success) we are blessed to experience is greatly due to the faith of our staff, the church, students and many families who love God and choose to be part of the ‘vine’, rooted in grace, humility, service and above all the Good News of Jesus. We never forget however, that without Jesus, we can do nothing.

Last term, was a challenging one, yet we have come through that and begun a new term, with students safely engaging and learning again. It is our prayer as a Christian Community, that all members and the wider community can continue to experience the fruit, so much so, that the question of what we are rooted in, is answered and becomes a reality for all.

What fruit do you need more of in your life, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and or self-control?
