Last week Year 11 and 12’s participated in an RACQ Docudrama incursion designed to raise their awareness of the fatal five: distraction, seatbelts, drugs & alcohol, speeding and fatigue. The program is intentionally targeted at this age group as most of them will begin to get behind the wheel in the next couple of years if they haven’t already.

Students watched a dramatization of a car accident scene, complete with attending police, ambulance and a hearse. They then retreated inside to watch a video highlighting the events leading up to the accident. The primary takeaway of the day was that small choices can lead to large consequences. Though it was a confronting session for many, the lessons will hopefully stay with them as they begin to make their own decisions regarding safety on the road.
