This week our new school counsellor, Anthony Ryan, was introduced to students at Assembly as he did ‘Show and Tell’ on the couch with Mr Langford. Anthony will be working closely with the Pastoral Care team to offer support to the Mueller community and we got to know him a little more this week…

What brought you to Mueller?

I enjoy working alongside young people to see them thrive and reach their goals. I have trained in the area of child and adolescent counselling and hope to make a positive contribution to the life of the college.

What is your current role?

I have come to Mueller College to offer counselling support to students and staff. There are many difficult challenges and pressures that people (particularly young people) face in today’s world. I will help teach students new ways of managing difficult thoughts and emotions, so they can pursue their calling and destiny.

I am also here to support parents whenever they are concerned about their child’s psychological and emotional health. I can also offer strategies or advice around how to ensure the healthy development of their child.

What are you most passionate about in your role?

I am passionate about seeing young people succeed in life even through the difficult and unpleasant situations that life can throw at them. I am privileged and humbled to witness when young people live according to their purpose and discover their own potential.

What was your very first job?

My first job was working at a camping store, re-filing gas bottles and handing out catalogues.

Coffee of choice?

A full-bodied Cappuccino!!
