With the Aladdin musical production only a week away, we spoke to three more of the show’s main characters – Addison Ransley as Jafar, Jesse Vickery as Iago, and Dylan Boughey who plays the Sultan – to find out what the process of bringing together a musical has been like…

What is the best part of being part of the musical?

JESSE – I really like my character because he doesn’t take anything seriously. Especially in Year 12, it’s an opportunity to have a bit of fun.

DYLAN – The laughs, the funny jokes, and the people you get to do it with.

Funny moments that have happened in rehearsal?

ADDISON – There’s a scene where Jafar gets sucked into the lamp which has been funny to watch it being made into part of the production.

JESSE – Jafar decided to name his staff ‘salmon’ – you’ll have to come to the show to find out more.

DYLAN – I have a line where I call Jasmine ‘sugar pie pumpkin sweet’ – saying that out loud for the first time was awkward!

What are you most looking forward to about the performances?

ADDISON – It will be a good challenge and it will be great to see all the work pay off. I’m not looking forward to it being over because, whilst it’s been busy, it has been great fellowship. It’s like getting a whole new family.

JESSE – I’ve always loved performing so I’m looking forward to the thrill of it.

DYLAN – Making it the best show possible and having fun doing it.

What would you tell younger kids who dream of playing a lead role one day?

ADDISON – Go for it! I went for a different role but things went another direction – you never know what will happen. The best thing you can do is try your best.

JESSE – Never say never, go for it!

DYLAN – Go to the musicals, do them, have fun and show the director what you can do.

Which show do you think people should come to see?

ADDISON – The first one will probably get the most laughs so if you’re looking for a good time, go see the first one!

JESSE – The last one – it will be the most well rehearsed.

DYLAN – The second one! That’s the one where you get the perfect blend of some experience but where the cast are still enjoying themselves.
