On Monday, the SAAA sponsored RV12 aircraft wing, built by our very own students, left the nest for its journey south to Narromine, NSW compliments of Burnside SHS who supplied the transport. Burnside mentor and ute owner/driver Graeme had packed their empennage in the tray of his new Isuzu and made a rig for our wing to sit on top. After much preparation of the wing, which included wrapping it in foam and the mandatory 12km of duct tape, the wing was secured to the top of the arrangement with tie-down straps.

The flaperon was boxed up and lay front-to-back on the tray of the vehicle next to the empennage. Our wing will be matched up with the rest of the aircraft in Narromine when all the components turn up, and then will be test flown and certified, after which it will fly around Australia to the schools that built it. The students will be able to sit in the aircraft they brought to life. How awesome is that!

Many thanks to the SAAA who sponsored the build, our magnificent mentors who took the students through the build, the Mueller Mustangs (Yr10-12 students) who built the wing, and our great God who continues to bless us.
