Last week our ‘gifted and talented’ students were given the opportunity to stretch their maths wings and participate in an incursion from ‘World of Maths’. The premise of the activities centered around how maths is integrated into everyday life, proving the old student trope that ‘we will never use this in real life’, when faced with things like fractions and probability, wrong.

Students conceded that one area maths is always present is in games, and they spent the morning exploring this theory by tackling a range of different puzzles and problems in teams. The incursion gave them space to learn more about maths in a practical way, and it was evident that they enjoyed the process.
