Year 7’s did a business unit last term that culminated in a ‘Shark Tank’ presentation. Students had to invent a product, work out a marketing strategy, figure out production costs, retail prices and profit margins among other things, and then present their pitch to a panel of entrepreneurial ‘experts’.

The visiting ‘sharks’ had a variety of elaborate background stories to wow and intimidate the presenters – one a member of the Hollywood elite, another a chemical magnate fighting the rising chemical-free movement, and another a 27 time winner of MasterChef with a baking empire!

It was a tough competition with the best group from each class going head to head in the finals with products like a gum disintegration solution, a solar powered phone and a transparent toaster. Ultimately though, a self-cleaning bbq idea from Lincoln, Reuben and Jed of 7.3 took out the win.
