As the end of the year rapidly approaches, we’re well and truly in the season of celebration. This week, it’s the turn of the Year 9 students, who are looking forward to their Semi-Formal this Friday. This is a wonderful occasion for them to celebrate the end of their time in Middle School.

Just think: January 2020 really wasn’t that long ago. That’s when this cohort started High School as fresh-faced 12 year old’s!

We’re so proud to see them successfully navigate these three years, through Covid and other challenges. They’ve demonstrated resilience, grown in their identity, and strengthened their character.

So it’s only right to be thankful this Friday. Seeing them all dressed up so smartly is such a joy, because it’s a tangible symbol of the growing maturity of our students.

Fundamental to the maturing process is wisdom, which is really the heart of education. In the midst of a myriad of voices competing for their attention, Proverbs 2:10-11 highlights what will lead to true success in life: “For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul. Discretion will protect you, and understanding will guard you.”

Wisdom, knowledge, discretion, and understanding: what powerful values to reinforce in all our students. And this is what we’re really thankful for at every student event we celebrate at this time of year.
