Year 8 student, Faith Hickey, is leading the fundraising charge having already raised over $1000. She says family, friends and an old teacher have been her biggest supporters so far. We asked her about the upcoming endeavour…

Why did you put your hand up to cut your hair?

My uncle died from cancer in 2020 and it was really fast. It impacted my Dad’s family a lot. I cut my hair all the time and throw it in the bin so I thought I may as well use it to bless other people.

What would you say to someone who is considering getting involved?

This year in Assembly we’ve been talking about doing something big and stepping out of your comfort zone so I’d say give it a go! I think getting involved encourages others to get out there and do more, and sets you up to do big things yourself later in life.

The World’s Greatest Shave is coming up on Friday, March 16th & 17th. Students are invited to participate by raising money to shave, cut or colour their hair in support of the Leukaemia Foundation.

In years past, the school set a goal of raising $40,000 and well and truly smashed it, being one of the highest fundraisers in the state. In 2023 we have set our goal at $45,000 and have already raised over $17,000!

Secondary students can be involved in the following ways…

COLOUR their hair (required to raise min $350)

CUT 20cm of their hair (required to raise min $500)

SHAVE their head (required to raise min $500)

Primary students in Years 5 & 6 can be involved by…

COLOURING their hair (required to raise min $350)
