The 2023 Mueller Basketball Academy camp tipped off with the 2nd annual Mueller v Northside Cup. All teams competed well, demonstrating the Academy defining characteristics of Hustle and Heart! NCC got the better of us overall this year to make it 1-1. After practice games, we enjoyed dinner before returning to the courts for our first camp training session, followed by an “early” bedtime.
After a great first day, our basketball student-athletes and coaches woke up early for a morning fitness session before enjoying breakfast together. After fuelling up, we hit the courts for our second and third training sessions, gathering together to talk about the Academy history and goals in between. Our grade 5 and 6 Academy kids joined us for the third session and lunch. After lunch, we took off for Aspley Bowling to relax and build community with each other. Returning to school mid-afternoon we got ready for the highlight of MBA camp, The Tournament.
Each year, Senior students are selected as tournament team captains. These captains then draft MBA student-athletes into teams who compete in the intra-academy tournament. It was an incredibly competitive tournament this year, with the girls finals being decided by 1-point across three teams. In the end, it was Team Kyle vs Team Miles, and Team Faith vs Team Isabelle in the grand final matches.
Thank you to every student-athlete, and coach for an incredibly rich weekend of hoops, hustle, and heart.
