Have you noticed the sea of orange that has descended upon the college?! Orange shirts, balloons, bows, hats, socks, hair spray, zinc…all of the orange is out in force this week. Teachers and staff, students and parents, all wearing orange. A colour that unites our community annually and reinforces belonging at Mueller.

I was walking down past Student Services last week when two lower primary girls skipped past me and yelled out, “we’re off to Flourish!”. I said, “have a great time”, to which they gleefully responded, “we will!”.

Flourish is the Primary lunchtime program run by the Year 9, 11 and 12 Primary Prefects. 100+ girls each Monday lunchtime join together for games, crafts, food and a devotion. A hive of buzzing activity of girls of all ages joining together in community. A place of belonging!

80+ students playing chess at lunch on Tuesdays, Art Club in E Block, Tutoring on Thursdays, and Middle School Boys sport club on Fridays (and that’s just to name a few). So many places and spaces for your child to belong.

And no matter our age, or stage of life, is this not what we all want? To have a place of belonging. To be in community.

God is a God of community. He exists in the trinity; God the Father, the Son and Holy Spirit (2 Corinthians 13:14). It is out of the trinity and in His image that mankind was created (Genesis 1:27). We exist to belong within community and were created for good works.

If you need a community to belong to, or you want a new community, a place of love, grace, acceptance, and forgiveness, join God’s community! You will belong! This is the best decision I have ever made!
