There is always action in the sports department at Mueller but we have plenty of students competing and achieving in sports outside of school. Take a look at some of this month’s achievements…

Madison Cushing

Year 9 student, Madison, recently competed for Mueller in the Hygain 2023 South East Qld Regional Championship in equestrian. The comp aims to give young equestrians experience in competing in large events as they build toward their competitive goals.
Madison has been training with her horse, Frankie, for a year now, working hard every day to achieve her goals. She will go on to compete in the Gold Coast Show and the June Festival of Show Jumping World Cup.
We’re cheering you on Madison!

Leopold Rattenbury

Leopold recently brought in an impressive trophy and shield that he won for his swimming achievements for show and tell. Leopold is the second youngest swimmer at his club but managed to win the most points (based on PB’s) for the season in his entire swimming club!

At just 5 years old, he also broke all the 25m, 50m, and 100m records for his age group at the club nights. He turned 6 with about 2 weeks of the season left, and has already broken a few of the 6 year old records! What a champion!

Tian Markart

Tian continues with his outstanding water polo achievements having recently competed at the 4 day Queensland Schools Sport water polo comp. His team came away with the gold, defending their win for a 2nd time around.

In even bigger news, Tian has made selection into U18 Australian Mens Water Polo Team for European Tour in July 2023.Tian & 14 of his team mates will make their way to Germany & Holland, attending training camps & playing games with some of the best in water polo. The tour is to help prepare & develop players for World Championships in 2024 & 2025.  Tian is training to make those teams and onward, aiming to represent Australia at the Olympics.

Let’s go Tian!

Soccer Stars

Well done to the Mueller students who recently competed for their clubs at the 2023 Queensland Christian State Soccer Carnival at @sunshinecoaststadium, Kawana.

After a big weekend of competition four Mueller players were selected for the QCSA State team to represent at the National Christian Soccer Carnival in October:

* Micah Gollan (u14)

* Max Shannon (u16/17)

* Isaac Tatters (u16/17)

* Kye Campbell (u16/17)

Congratulations boys!

Vian Van der Westhuizen

Year 2 student, Vian, is working hard at Brazilian Jujitsu, participating in the elite squad of his club and recently winning his solid Grey belt. He had a successful competition at the Moreton Bay Championship recently and won a gold medal.

Vian already has a collection of medals and says his favorite is the Silver one because he lost by submission and learnt a lot from the experience. What a fantastic attitude!
