Year 2 had educators from Newstead House visit last week to teach them all about life in pioneering Australia. Students had a hands-on experience with the laundering process of yesteryear as they used soap, a washboard, and a dolly to slowly wash some items before hanging them up to sun-dry.

A visitor from the 1800’s walked them through table etiquette and even taught the boys the proper way to ask a girl to dance. They learned about the various uses for humble garden plants, smelling some samples and imagining what they were used for. Students also got to try some heritage-style games with coits and skittles before reflecting on all they had learned.
