Over 150 people came out last week to watch the Year 11 and 12 Drama students’ performances in this year’s ‘Absurdist’. Often confronting and chaotic, the Year 11 class took on a powerful expressionism piece on the main stage, reflecting the dramatic changes at the turn of the 20th century. It was met with a huge response from the audience of friends, family and theatre lovers.
The Year 12 performances took supporters on a travelling show, moving from set to set around the Arts Cube to see the various groups perform. As one of their major assessment pieces, the groups were responsible for designing, producing and interpreting their pieces with some leaning towards the comedic, and others, the tragic. What they all had in common was their commitment to their role, drawing the audience into their story in just a few minutes.
Surrounding the performances were the Year 10 Hospitality and Kitchen Ops students, with a creative take on canapes and mocktails. With mango chilli drinks and tomato and basil macaroons, they kept the audience on their culinary toes, making it a night out that won’t be forgotten!
