The Secondary school mandate for 2025 is; If not me, then who? If not now, then when? From the first day of school this year, students were challenged and, since then, regularly reminded that they can all make a difference and be vehicles of positive change.
Each year for the Year 12’s is a year of ‘lasts’. Last sporting carnivals, last Mega chapels, last Awards night, last Beanies week, last assemblies and SL@M’s. They are always challenged to enter their last school year and all its events and opportunities with an all-in approach. An approach that sees them get involved and positively impact their peers, school community and culture. One that sees them participate rather than spectate.
While it is not a year of lasts for the rest of the secondary school, the challenge remains the same. And it is supported further by the questions – If not me, then who? If not now, then when?
If every student’s response (and we can include staff, parents and families) to that question is in fact ‘me’, and ‘now’, 2025 will be a very productive and positive year.
And if the last few weeks have been anything to go by, it is certainly trending that way. Many members of the Mueller community have already been actively serving and contributing in a multitude of ways. Most recently, the College’s fundraising efforts for the Leukaemia Foundation through the World’s Greatest Shave have been in the spotlight.
For the third straight year Mueller has surpassed fifty thousand dollars raised, and we are currently closing in on sixty thousand.
If not me, then who? If not now, then when? We have already begun to see a healthy a positive response to these questions. I look forward to what the rest of the year will bring.
