If this was your first Mueller Fete on Saturday, I hope you had a wonderful time taking in the sights, sounds and smells of the day. If you’re a returning ‘Feter”, I hope you were able to reconnect with some of your favourite traditions. For me, it was the orange and poppyseed cake, the many stalls, and most of all, seeing the smiles on faces, young and old, as they enjoyed the atmosphere together. The fireworks being fired off H-Block were also pretty cool!
I would like to acknowledge the many parents, students and staff who generously volunteered their time, talents and energy to make the day possible. It was a joy to see so many parts of our community working together to create such a memorable event. A special thank you goes to the students who stayed behind after school on Friday, setting up bollards, chairs and tents in the rain. As the rain finally cleared and the sun set about 5pm, the students and staff stood around sharing a sausage and bread, hoping we would have the great weather we enjoyed on Saturday. Their willingness to serve is a wonderful reminder that community is built not merely through shared experiences, but through shared contribution.
The success of the Fete reminds us that community is not something we observe from the sidelines; it is something we actively participate in. As the school term unfolds, there will be many opportunities to become involved, build relationships and contribute to the life of the College. We look forward to seeing our students and families continue to enrich our community through their gifts, enthusiasm and willingness to serve.
As we commence a new term, I encourage us to think about participation in a broader sense. In a Christian school, we recognise that God invites us to join Him in His work, not only through acts of service to others, but through the ongoing work He is doing within each of us. In 2 Corinthians 3, God promises us that he will not cease renewing and refreshing us with his grace. As students, parents and staff, may we approach the months ahead with open hearts, ready to grow, learn and be shaped by God as we contribute to the flourishing of those around us.
