Last week MAF Australia (Mission Aviation Fellowship) visited to talk to the STEM students about how God works through the use of aviation around the world. They brought a range of activities to demonstrate their services to the students and incentivised participation with prizes at the end of each session.
One of the activities was for the students in their ‘country’ groups (Chad, Liberia, PNG, Madagascar, Ecuador, Arnhem Land, and South Sudan) was to build an aeroplane, airstrip and tower using a limited amount of resources – or in their case – Lego. Easier said than done! The students were able to come up with some creative designs, as you can see in the photos below.
Some of the Year 9 STEM students used virtual reality headsets to experience a patient being medevaced from their village in PNG via an MAF aircraft.
The students had a great time and learned about the possibilities of serving the community with their aviation skills in the future.
