What did the Beanie say to the scarf? “You hang here, while I go on a-head!”
Beanies 4 Brain Cancer week was yet another successful service and fundraising event in Mueller’s school calendar.
This year the week took on a slightly different approach with an additional fundraising focus added to the week’s usual financial recipient, The Mark Hughes Foundation. Transform the Nations is a mission organisation with a strong connection to the Mueller community, spanning many years. A number of mission trips to Nepal in recent years have resulted, and while this year’s mission trip locations have changed, students were given the opportunity to again support and contribute to this organisation that serves in Nepal. Students purchased and donated over 230 beanies, to be received by children in Nepal in the coming months, care of Transform the Nations.
At the same time, the week raised over five thousand dollars that will go directly to the Mark Hughes Foundation, a critical component of Brain Cancer research and treatment.
Other elements of the week included the annual Asher Mashonganyika Memorial Basketball game, which the students handsomely won. While another twenty staff braved the ice cold waters to slide in the BIG CHILL event which closes out the week.
Well done, and thank you to all the students, parents, families and staff who contributed again to this fantastic cause. The generosity and kindness of the Mueller community was on show once again.
