This term, Mueller College is offering a free five-week parenting course for families of primary-aged students. The course, 1-2-3 Magic & Emotion Coaching, is a nationally recognised program designed to help parents respond more confidently to challenging behaviour in children aged 2–12.
The course will be facilitated by Mr. Anthony Ryan, School Counsellor, who is a licensed Parentshop practitioner trained in the 1-2-3 Magic & Emotion Coaching program.
What the course covers
Over five Wednesday afternoon sessions, parents will learn practical, evidence-informed strategies including how to sort and respond to difficult behaviour, how to stay calm under pressure, and how to use emotion coaching to support their child’s emotional development. Each week builds on the last, giving parents time to try things out at home between sessions.
The five sessions are:
– Understanding and Decoding Your Child — Wed 19 Aug
– Staying Calm When Things Get Hard — Wed 26 Aug
– 3 Powerful Tools Every Parent Needs — Wed 2 Sep
– Bringing It All Home — Wed 9 Sep
– Helping Your Child Manage Anxiety: The Five Star Model — Wed 16 Sep
The final session will introduce the Five Star Model of Anxiety Management a practical, parent-friendly framework for helping children aged 4–12 identify and manage anxiety, build resilience, and develop the confidence to face everyday challenges.
Sessions run from 1:45pm–2:45pm, making it easy to attend before afternoon pick-up. All participants receive a workbook and a certificate of completion if you attend all sessions.
