As we move into Week 6, it is wonderful to reflect on the many students, staff and families who have already been part of some of our amazing Mueller events this term.
We kicked off the term with the fabulous Mueller Fete – and how about those cutie-pie Preppies opening the event by taking the stage with their smash-hit rendition of Celebration! What a wonderful day that so authentically showcased what the Mueller community is all about; fun, family, faith, celebration, working together, deep gratitude for all we have been given, and opening our doors to the broader community.
And the events certainly haven’t stopped there! This term has already included numerous basketball and football competitions, district carnivals, ICAS competitions, dance competitions and, of course, the wonderful Beauty and the Beast. We have also enjoyed our fun-filled Beanies for Brain Cancer week, culminating in The Big Chill. Our Preps have embraced Wacky Wednesday, are preparing for Book Week next week, and will finish the term with Careers Day.
Yet, amongst all the activity, something even more important is happening: connections are being built and strengthened between students, staff, families and the wider community. Like the Psalmist says, “How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!” Psalm 133:1.
For our Preppies, these connections are particularly significant. They are only at the beginning of their 13-year journey with us, and it is through being involved in the life of our community that a deep sense of belonging begins to grow. It is such a joy to see our Preppies begin the year so small and shy, and then, by Term 3, find their place and become fully immersed in all that happens at Mueller. They eagerly await the next event, engage in their learning, develop friendships, learn what it means to be a kind friend and a good student, and give their very best.
“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together…” — Hebrews 10:24–25
Their teachers have also forged such strong connections with them. They know their students so well; they have become students of their students, understanding what makes each child tick and knowing how to draw out their very best, both in the classroom and on the playground.
What a privilege it is to walk alongside our Prep families and staff and to witness the wonder of all that God is doing in the lives of individuals, families and our wider community.
