Is your child carrying worries that seem to be getting worse? Is school drop-off getting harder, not easier? You’re not alone, and there’s a better way forward.

Join Mr. Anthony Ryan (school counsellor) on Wednesday 16/09/2026 for a practical, evidence-informed session introducing the Five-Star Model of Anxiety Management, designed for parents and carers who want to help the children in their care build resilient minds.

When: 1:45 PM to 2:45 PM

Where: Shalom Room, Bristol House building

What we’ll cover

  1. Maintaining a child’s mind, the foundation on which everything else rests
  2. Helping them tame their fears in a way that builds, rather than rescues
  3. Emotion coaching your child so big feelings have somewhere to go
  4. Challenging cognitive distortions, the thinking traps that quietly strengthen anxiety
  5. Promoting radical downtime in a world that rarely slows down

Why it matters

Some children will grow out of their anxiety, but we can’t reliably predict who. Anxiety that’s interfering with school, friendships, sleep, or family life is unlikely to fade on its own, and the good news is that early support makes a measurable difference. The right kind of response, repeated over time by the adults a child trusts, can rewire unhelpful patterns and build healthier pathways in the developing brain.

This session blends neuroscience, practical strategies and a grounded Christian perspective on anxiety and rest.
