Earlier in the year, you would have received the 2018 – Taking the Next Step brochure. The document outlines our 2018 actions to reach our 2020 Vision goals. Here is an update on the Teaching and Learning Actions we are taking this year.

A clear set of classroom practices to ensure quality teaching

We have researched and adopted a document which outlines practices which promote quality learning in the classroom. In particular, all Middle School classes operate on a similar structure to ensure students are aware of classroom expectations. We are seeing more engaged students as a result.

Use student data to provide individualised learning

We now have the beta version of our very own student data software package. Designed specifically for our Primary School, the software will provide teachers with the most up to date data on student progress, allowing us to target specific areas of strengths and weaknesses.

Promote an understanding of individualised learning styles

Over the 10 weeks, we are undertaking a full audit of how we differentiate for different student’s in the classroom. This audit is being managed by Todd Langford (Deputy Head of College) and the Learning Assistance Department. All differentiated data will be documented and recorded to ensure we provide quality differentiation.

Gifted and talented program

Term 3 will see the commencement of a G&T Program. Initially to commence in the Primary School, we will have a G&T Co-ordinator work on the introduction of the program. More information will be published during Term 3 on the program.
