A Note from the Nurses:

Many of you will know someone who is affected by anaphylaxis, a life-threatening allergic reaction. Our school does its best to be an allergy aware school. Staff have had training in severe allergy management, and the school has implemented numerous strategies to help keep students at risk of anaphylaxis, as safe as we can.

Several students in our school have severe allergies to nuts and other foods (touch, taste and/or smell sensitive). Food allergies should be taken seriously as they could be life-threatening (anaphylaxis).

We ask that you educate your child on the importance of not sharing food with others, washing hands after eating and calling out to an adult if they think their friend with allergies is sick. In particular we request that parents refrain from sending foods containing a nut ingredient.

This request is not intended to inconvenience or stress parents (as far as food choice for their own child is concerned), it is about keeping all Mueller students safe while at school.

If your child suffers from anaphylaxis, please provide the Health Room and your child’s class
teacher with an up to date Anaphylaxis Action Plan, if you haven’t already done so.

Thank you for your help in caring for all of Mueller’s students.
