A Memorandum from Queensland Transport
The Road Safety Office has received numerous complaints about parents/carers who have been stopping in the “No Stopping” zone and/or performing illegal u-turns in the crossing area to drop off or pick up their children.
A no-stopping zone sign is shown below and has been installed for the safety of all children attending the school. These signs are normally found near crossings and intersections.
The Regulations state that: “a driver must not stop on a length of road or in an area to which a no stopping sign applies.”
Please read the signs and check for road markings before stopping or turning and ensure that the area is only used as allowed by the signs. This in turn makes the roads near our schools safer for all children to cross.
