Monday was Multicultural Day in Primary where students were invited to wear something that represented their country of heritage or nationality that was significant to them. The playground was a kaleidoscope of colour as flags and traditional dress from all over the world were worn.

During assembly, students watched a presentation of dance originating in North India and hear from the performers who shared about their own diverse heritage. Some couldn’t help but get up out of their seats to dance along! They then heard from some fellow students who shared some of their interests in their first language. Students sat mesmerized as they heard their friends speak in Korean, Romania & Afrikaans just to name a few.

Mrs Kotze’s class expanded the festivities with a multicultural taste test. Some students brought in favourite foods from different cultures with one bringing sushi rolls handmade by mum, and another bringing a bread-based Hungarian snack. They had their little feast while Mrs Kotze shared about her South African heritage.

The highlight of the day is always the parade and our students approached it with enthusiasm! Check it out below…
