RYLEE SMITH

Rylee Smith (Yr 9) competed at the 2023 Australian Age National Swimming Championship held at the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre from 7th-15th April 2023. Rylee competed in 7 events, (after qualifying in 10 events but could only swim 7 due to scheduling) across 7 days of competition ranging in distance from 100m to 1500m.
Rylee had a sensational meet and swam a Personal Best time (PB) every time she hit the pool, finishing the 7 day meet with 100% PBs. Rylee dropped a combined total of 44.77 seconds across her 7 races whilst competing with the best in Australian swimming in her age group – 14 years.
Rylee’s results:
2nd (Silver) in 1500m Freestyle – 20.30 second PB
6th in 800m Freestyle – 11.47 second PB
6th in 400m Freestyle – 6.35 second PB to make the final, and a further 2.14 second PB in the final.
14th in 200m Individual Medley – 2.09 second PB
18th in 200m Freestyle – 0.70 second PB
22nd in 200m Backstroke – 0.81 second PB
43rd in 100m Freestyle – 0.90 second PB
Prior to the event, Rylee was named by the Courier Mail as one of the top “120 A to Z Swimmers to watch at Age Nationals” and she certainly didn’t disappoint.

PRIMARY BOYS

Mueller 10-12 years boys have quite a few good AFL players with 6 boys making the Redcliffe district side to play at the regional trial last term. Well done boys!

TEAGEN O’FRIEL

Year 7 student Teagan O’Friel recently travelled to Townsville for the Little Athletics QLD State Event competing in the U12 category.

She had 3 events over the course of 3 days placing 4th place in the 800m (with a new PB), 7th place in the 1500m (with a new PB), and 7th place in Triple Jump, which she jumped 3 PB’s back to back out of her 4 jumps.

Teagan had a great experience at the event and even got to meet Australia’s very own Javelin 2x world champ and bronze Olympian medalist – Kelsey Lee Barber.
