As the school year approaches its end, the season of award ceremonies arrives. The Aerospace Gateway to Industry Schools Program (AGISP) hosts the annual ‘Aerospace Industry Education Awards’, which celebrates the outstanding achievements of a few select students involved in aerospace activities across Queensland.

There are various awards sponsored by major industry partners (like Airbus, Qantas, Boeing Defence, etc.) that celebrate different levels of skill, character and quality of students who have applied. The ‘Aerospace Gateway School of the Year’ award is an award available to AGISP schools that acknowledges the contribution of a school involved in growing interest and skill within the aerospace industry, starting with stimulating the curiosity of students. Participation is optional, but encouraged as it is an opportunity for students to meet with industry representatives and start building their career networks.

Each year presents impressive applications from students across Queensland, and each year sees multiple Award Finalists and Winners from Mueller College. This year we are excited to see 5 Senior students who are award finalists across 6 different awards. These students will receive an invitation to attend the awards, where they will engage with members of the aerospace workforce and wait in anticipation for the award winners to be announced.

Mueller College has been nominated as a finalist school for the ‘Aerospace Gateway School of the Year‘ award (which we have previously been finalists for but are yet to bring back the winning certificate). We are grateful for all contributions made to the Aerospace program at Mueller, including all staff and volunteers who share their passion for aerospace with our students.

Below is the list of award categories and the names of the Mueller College students who were chosen as finalists for the 2023 Aerospace Awards.

  • Mueller College – Aerospace Gateway School of the Year
  • Carl Santiago – Year 12 Aerospace Project Award
  • Connor McAlonan-Peril – Future Aerospace Award
  • Ethan Priem – Spirit of Boeing Award
  • Maddison-Rose Coulson – Young Innovator Award & Year 11 Aerospace Award
  • Taiba Iqbal – Year 10 Aerospace Award

Being selected as a finalist is no easy feat and a very commendable achievement. We are excited to see who the award winners are on Thursday, 23 November 2023, at the Aerospace Awards Ceremony and applaud all students who applied – there is some fierce competition out there!

We wish all finalists the best!
