Year 7 had a fantastic time away down the coast for their first Secondary camp. Here is what some of them had to say about the experience…

I had the best time at camp, at first I was sad that I wasn’t in my friend’s cabin but thinking back I ended up having the best time in my cabin. I am now better friends with them.  My favourite activity was when we got to smack people on the chin with pool noodles in evasive games. I learnt that we don’t always get what we want but making peace with what we have makes the whole experience even more enjoyable instead of moaning. The opshop hop was great and everybody got involved and the music had a great beat.

The highlights of camp for me were enjoying my three days with my friends and enjoying the activities. Some of the activities I enjoyed the most included, rock climbing, the giant swing, body boarding and Beach Games. In rock climbing I enjoyed racing against my friend on the rock climbing wall and having a good time getting to know everyone. During the giant swing, I wasn’t scared since I had done it a few times before but it was fun seeing everyone’s reactions.  During body boarding I had fun catching big waves and getting tumbled over with my friends. Beach games were also really fun for me since I had to be the mermaid during the sand activity and stay still while my group covered me in sand. Most importantly I loved the stay at camp with my cabin and my friends. I learnt to not be afraid and always give everything a go even if it is out of my comfort zone since most people don’t get the chances I did at camp and to always have an attitude of gratitude and not grumbling.

I loved Year Seven camp! I have so many highlights I can’t even tell you them all, but I will start with the Op Shop Hop! My friends and I were dancing and shouting so much we almost lost our voice. I loved going to the very top of the giant swing and dropping down swinging really fast! My group went body boarding, which was everyone’s favourite.  I got taught how to lay on my back while catching a wave, it’s called the cockroach!

I learned many things at camp especially to be thankful for what I’m given – the food, the people in my cabin and also all the teachers and people who helped out!
