Year 8 took a deep dive into history today to explore the Renaissance and Medieval eras. Students had to prepare a table, game or activity, and a costume representing a notable figure from those time periods. Year 6 and 7 classes then came for a tour through the displays, ticking off a notables scavenger hunt on their way and gathering all sorts of lollies and prizes as they completed the activities.

After their notables fair, the Year 8’s split off into rotations. Each class had a crack at drawing a Renaissance-inspired portrait and competed to win an epic round of Knights and Cavaliers. The highlight, though, was the real-life jousting match on the oval. The enormous horses caught their attention, and the chance to try on some armour gave them more understanding of the 35kg weight these riders carry to protect themselves. One student got a little too excited about wearing the helmet and nearly had to take it home when it didn’t want to come off!
