Last week, our keen chess players took on the first annual Mueller College Chess Invitational, which we hosted at Mueller for the first time in conjunction with Gardiner Chess. Approximately 110 players across 6 schools came to play a Swiss-System tournament which is non-elimination and ensures players end up versing other players with a similar competitive score.
A large contingent of Primaries threw their hats in the ring to play for a medal and to get some practice under their belts. The competition awarded teams and individuals, with the Primary team winning 3rd place (Jayden Wang, Matthew Tookarchi, Moses Sellars & Elijah McKenzie) and the Secondary team taking home 1st (Johan Boobal, Rylan Dow, Riley Clarke & Charlie Cross). Year 10 student, Riley Clarke, placed 3rd in the individual competition, and Year 11 student, Rylan Dowe, placed an impressive 1st.
Congratulations to our chess players!
