While the MBA season is rolling out, we caught up with one of our Boys captains, Christopher Watts, to talk hoops and about being a 2025 captain.

Q. What is it that got you into basketball?
C. I got into basketball through the Mueller Basketball Classics and because a lot of my friends were doing it. At first, it was just about having fun and being part of something with my friends, but once I started playing, I fell in love with the game—the pace, the competition, and the team spirit.
Q. What does being a captain mean to you?
C. Being a captain means more than just wearing a title. It means setting the standard, putting the team first, and leading with integrity every day. To me, it’s about being someone my teammates can rely on through the wins, the losses, and everything in between.
Q. How do you mentally reset after a mistake or a bad play during a game?
C. When I make a mistake or have a bad play during a game, I mentally reset by taking a deep breath, reminding myself to stay present, and quickly shifting my focus to the next play. I know mistakes are part of the game, and if I stay stuck on one, it can affect my performance and the team’s energy.
