Year 9 Business students culminated their term of learning with a Business Showcase last week. In groups, students were required to create a business and delve into the planning stages, including making marketing plans, researching competitors, breaking down costs & profit projections, investigating scalability and making a long-term plan for growth and success.
The top six groups were given the opportunity to present their plan to a panel, including business owner, Rashelle Leahy, Mueller’s CFO, David Litke, and Kate Clauson, the program director from ‘Future Anything’, a program designed to empower entrepreneurship in young people and who hosted the competition. From a health diagnostic app, to multi-purpose clothing and shoes, a camping accessory and beauty products, the creativity was a reflection of the unique perspective of students as they navigate the world.
Parents were invited to come along to see the presentations before roaming the showcase as groups promoted their products and gave their best elevator pitch. Visitors then voted for their favourite business idea and groups were awarded for People’s Choice, best elevator pitch, most innovative product, and the overall showcase winner. Take a look at some of their displays below…
