Over the past year, our Primary students and staff have poured their hearts into Frozen JR; learning lines, songs, dances, and instrumental parts, while also building sets, designing costumes, and supporting one another behind the scenes. But beyond the music and the magic, they’ve learned something even more valuable: how to be a friend. They’ve discovered what it means to show up for each other, to encourage one another when things get tough, and to celebrate each other’s strengths.
One of the most touching lines in Frozen comes from Olaf: “Some people are worth melting for.” It’s a simple but powerful reminder that real love often means putting someone else’s needs before our own. Olaf’s willingness to sacrifice for Anna is a beautiful picture of what it means to be a true friend; someone who chooses kindness, loyalty, and selflessness, even when it costs something. In our own lives, we’re surrounded by people God has entrusted to us; our classmates, families, neighbours, and friends. The question is: how can we love them in a way that shows they are worth melting for?
Jesus gave us the perfect example. In John 15:12–13, He says, “My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” While we may not be called to dramatic sacrifices every day, we are called to live with that same heart; choosing to serve, forgive, encourage, and include others. Whether it’s helping someone who’s struggling, standing up for a friend, or simply being present, these small acts of love reflect the heart of Jesus.
As our students take the stage this weekend, may we be reminded not only of their incredible talent but of the deeper message they’ve lived out through this journey. Let’s be a community that sees the people around us, really sees them, and chooses to love them well. Because the people God has placed in our world truly are worth melting for.
