How good is it that our students have the opportunity to enjoy camps as part of their school journey? At Mueller, camp is not just a fun break from the classroom, but a vital part of our curriculum and a key experience in shaping the whole student.
Our camp programs offer a wide range of benefits. They foster personal growth, help students develop essential life skills, and strengthen friendships. Camp provides a unique environment for students to step outside their comfort zones, take on new challenges, learn new skills, and grow in independence and confidence.
I recently joined our Year 4 camp at PCYC Camp Warrawee, where students faced exciting yet fear-inducing activities like rock climbing, crate stacking, and canoeing. Time and time again, students were met with a choice: face their fear, or step back and never know what they were capable of.
During crate stacking or rock climbing, each student was harnessed in, while a teacher or camp instructor managed the ropes, ensuring they were safely supported. That image; the student suspended in the air, held securely by the rope offers a powerful reminder of our own lives. God is our anchor point. He holds us securely.
Throughout both the Old and New Testaments, the Bible speaks of God holding us in His hands. It’s a beautiful picture of His constant presence and unwavering grace. In Psalm 139:10, David writes that God is always there to lead and uphold us. Isaiah 49:16 reminds us that we are engraved on the palm of His hands. He will never forget or abandon us.
In Isaiah 41:13, God makes this promise: “For I, the Lord your God, hold your right hand; it is I who say to you, ‘Fear not, I am the one who helps you.’”
What a powerful promise: no matter what we face, we are never alone. Just like those students, harnessed and supported, we are held securely and lovingly by our God.
