Year 7 put on their coats, donned their safety glasses, and took up the scalpels for a fish dissection last week. After a demonstration from teachers and careful instructions, they divided into groups and went on a biological treasure hunt, searching for reproductive organs, the heart, intestines, gills and more in the sea mullet.
There were plenty of scrunched-up noses, and a few relocating to hang their heads out the window to escape the pungent smell, but others couldn’t wait to dive in. They all finished the lesson with more scientific knowledge under their belt and an experience to remember.
