This time last year, I wrote in Mueller Connect…
“We are preparing for the construction of the integrated wellbeing centre on campus. This purpose-built facility has been purposefully designed to bring together various wellbeing services into one location. Our various wellbeing services are currently dotted across campus. We are excited to have a centrally located facility which will enhance community and again prioritise the mental health of students.”
In the past 12 months, the old demountables have been removed and the new wellbeing centre has risen out of the ground.
The bringing together of Learning Assistance, Gifted Education, Chaplaincy, Health, and Counselling services all in one integrated centre demonstrates the importance of wellbeing in student learning. Student mental health and well-being are foundational to effective learning. When children feel safe, supported, and emotionally regulated, they can focus, remember information, and participate in class. We desire to see all students come to school with a sense of belonging, with a passion for learning. Well-being is an important part of this.
What is important to remember is that well-being doesn’t come from a building. Relationship is the vehicle for student well-being. Positive student relationships and respectful teacher-student relationships are paramount as we continue to see students reach their goals.
Term 3 is almost at an end. We trust you have a restful break, and return refreshed in a couple of weeks, ready to see out 2025.
