Do you remember teaching your children how to ride a bike? Or even being taught how to ride yourself? Learning to balance your body weight while navigating pedalling and steering. It’s hard! Grazed hands and knees are often the story for the first few times. Tears, fear, worry, and even screaming for some kids (and maybe the parents too?!). How much do you hold the bike as a parent? Did you run alongside them or were you holding the back of the seat? Or maybe your child was like a duck to water and didn’t need any help?
It can be such a tricky process guiding your children through new things. The Year 12’s are in the middle of their External Exams. For the majority of the cohort, these are the most important exams in their schooling life. No doubt you have seen a varying array of emotions from them in this season too.
But just as we navigated teaching our child to learn to ride, we can also journey alongside them through these hard exams. The beauty of these hard seasons, is the promise Jesus gives to us.
Matthew 28:20 says ‘I am with you always, even to the very end of the age.”
In the times when we fall off our bikes, and when we’re pedalling freely, God is with us!
This is a promise for all of us. Parents, students and teachers can trust that God will be with us!
