The 2026 school year is up and going now and I trust that you have adjusted back to the day-to-day rhythm of school. School life is rich and dynamic and whilst holidays are an enjoyable and restful break it is good to be back amongst the school community and taking part in the activities available to us.
In preparation for the school year the staff take part in professional development to sharpen their focus and develop their skills. This year we had McCrindle researcher, Ashley Fell, join us to speak about Generation Alpha, born between 2010 and 2024. Ashley has written a book called “Generation Alpha” and with our student body almost exclusively of this generation it was enriching to hear from an expert about the way society and culture shape their approach to life, learning and relationships. A key takeaway from the presentation was this quote, “The strength of a school comes from its stories and traditions, but the future of a school rests in its relevance and innovation”.
We have a desire to be improving and adjusting our ways of working, our teaching styles and our spaces to meet the needs of our students. Our professional development and master planning focus on these outcomes. However, we know that Jesus is the hope of the world and the biblical values that flow from this are vital in forming us as people and a community. We want to do the absolute best job we can of educating your children, yet remain anchored in the words of Colossians 3, verses 1 & 2. “Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honour at God’s right hand.2 Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth.”
