Last Friday night our Year 11 and 12 Music students travelled to St John’s Cathedral in the city to experience Hans Zimmer’s Best Works as part of a Candlelight Concert.
Set within the stunning cathedral, the Candlelight Concert series creates a unique, immersive musical experience, combining live performance with the atmosphere of one of Brisbane’s most awe-inspiring spaces.
This excursion was a particularly enriching opportunity as students are currently developing their own individual compositions, allowing them to learn directly from the compositional techniques and storytelling of one of the world’s most influential film composers.
Highlights from the evening included music from Pirates of the Caribbean, Inception, Interstellar, The Prince of Egypt, Kung Fu Panda, Gladiator, Sherlock Holmes, The Lion King, Wonder Woman and Man of Steel.
