A team of Year 10 business students recently took part in the QUT Accounting Challenge. The team of four was tasked with tackling a real-world business problem – in this case, to advise their ‘client’ whether they had a viable business idea. This meant delving into specifics like leasing or buying a building, exploring multiple revenue streams, making monthly budget estimates, and examining the advantages of debt financing vs equity investment. After submitting a written proposal, the group were chosen to present their approach to a panel of judges at QUT.
The students all represented the college very well on the day, and competition was fierce in the semi-finals, with the Mueller College team coming very close to the nominated finalist team. The overall winner on the day was a team from Hillbrook College.
