Over the weekend, Year 12 students Jessi and Layla competed in the Australian Culinary Federation’s National Secondary Schools Culinary Challenge at Southbank TAFE. The girls had 90 minutes to prepare 2 portions of a dessert showcasing a variety of skills and techniques. Jessi, who competed last year, captained the duo as they faced off against 4 other teams.
The girls were selected to compete as they are both currently completing a Certificate III in Hospitality traineeship. They’ve been preparing by practising twice a week for the past month, and their hard work paid off with a first place for Mueller College. Notably, the team attained a perfect score of 100 – only the 4th time this has been achieved in the last 25 years of competition! This means the girls lock in a spot at the National competition held in Melbourne, with the flights and accommodation serving as their prize from the ACF.
