Supporting and partnering with SU Chaplaincy in our surrounding local schools has been a focus this term at Mueller.
After meeting the local chaplains from Deception Bay State School, Deception Bay North State school, Clontarf Beach SHS and Redcliffe SHS, our Secondary students have been presented opportunities to serve alongside them in their schools, and contribute in practical ways within their school communities.
Teams of Year Nine and Year Eleven students each visited one of the two Deception Bay primary schools to cook their students a pancake and bacon breakfast. Over 400 hungry students across both schools were fed, while also enjoying some games and craft activities. Our own students were incredibly blessed through serving in such a practical way. A BBQ was also purchased and donated to one of the schools, thanks to the generous giving of Mueller’s Primary students at weekly Friday chapel services.
A team of Year Twelve students also visited Clontarf Beach SHS to join with Clontarf students and staff of faith in a before-school worship and prayer session. Again, they were significantly blessed as they prayed with and encouraged the Christian students of Clontarf Beach SHS.
Mueller is also able to support these chaplains with a financial gift from several fundraising events that have been run here at Mueller throughout Term One and Two (Mother’s Day stall and State of Origin Night), and to come in Term Three (Father’s Day stall).
We plan to continue this partnership with our local school Chaplains throughout the rest of this year and into 2027. Our Year Tens are the next group who are keen and ready for the opportunity to serve when it arrives in Term Three.
