Heritage Day is a highlights on the Year 6 calendar, looked forward to for years by Primaries. After a term of delving into Australian history, students step back in time to experience a day in the 1800’s. They begin with a boisterous parade that other classes come to watch, where they show off their carefully crafted costumes and acknowledge the steps of political progress that have led to the cultural landscape they now walk in.

The morning continues with an historical immersion with students trying their hand at butter-making, Indigenous art, traditional games, and a picnic on the oval for lunch.

Year 6 wrapped up a huge Heritage Day with a traditional bush dance complete with drongos and drovers, the nut bush, and the heel-and-toe polka! Prizes were given for costumes and dancing, and they all went home exhausted after a wonderful day!
